Mompou wrote the Suite compostelana (1962) in the context of his heightened professional rapport with Andrés Segovia. This is one of the most significant works written for and dedicated to Andrés Segovia; not surprisingly so, given that the Andalusian guitarist’s principal characteristics were the evocative beauty and variety of his sound, in perfect accord therefore with the artistic exploration Mompou cultivated throughout his entire life.
