Llobet Guitar Works - set of 15 volumes 1-2 guitars, guitar ensemble
This publication, dedicated to the legendary Catalan guitarist-composer Miguel Llobet, must surely rank as one of the most richly illustrated and professionally produced complete guitar music editions ever published. In fact there are 790 illustrations of rare inconography: photograghs, music manuscripts, music examples, programmes, correspondence etc., and much unknown relevant documentation as well as 60 previously unpublished titles.Thanks to the generosity of more than 50 contributors and the recent discovery of numerous manuscripts of Llobet, we can add some 60 formerly unpublished works (marked *) to those already known and, for the first time, offer a definitive edition containing all Llobet’s known compositions and transcriptions. No one is more qualified, than Stefano Grondona, after 30 years of research on Llobet, and after having recorded Llobet’s complete works on six CDs, to edit an edition of this scope and complexity with its informative texts and comprehensive documented critical apparatus. This publication is immensely informative, it reveals and reinstates Llobet’s true role as the pivotal figure of 20th century guitar history – the crucial link between the past and the present and his active and influential role, in the publishing history of Manuel de Falla’s ‘Homenaje’ at the request of the composer. Our edition follows Llobet’s triumphs on three continents, and tells a remarkable story, not only about the figure of Llobet, but also about his place in the cultural life of Europe, South America, and in Barcelona during ‘El Modernismo’. Many autograph manuscripts are reproduced, as well as concert programmes, rare documents, editions, and photographs. Our music engraving is clear, accurate and highly legible. The editions are quality printed in Germany on best quality 100gsm concert size music paper with durable laminated covers, and particularly as a collection, our Llobet edition is excellent value for money.
