19 Studies and 4 Pieces for Guitar
Franco Margola (Orzinuovi, 1908 – Nave, 1992), one of the leading Italian composers of the 20th century – with his celebrated Kinderkonzert for piano, also interpreted by Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli – dedicated over one hundred works to the classical guitar.
His 4 Simple Studies and 15 Studies, edited by Antonio D’Alessandro and Tommaso Ziliani, place special emphasis on distinctive aspects of harmony and the contrapuntal interplay between voices, rarely found in compositions for students. Specifically, these studies are intended for guitarists at the first-year conservatory level, or who have been playing for at least three years. The 4 concluding pieces, edited by Angela Centola, are an ideal continuation of the studies and are well suited to a concert program. Completing the volume is an audio playlist on Spotify, performed by Antonio D’Alessandro and Angela Centola.
